It really does come down to the nuts and bolts...  Some of the most basic elements can either make your training a stunning success, or result in a dismal failure.  Crane Tech invests in systems and personnel to guarantee your satisfaction.  And that's what we do, we guarantee that unless you are completely satisfied there is no charge for our services. After all, it's your training.  But let's get down to some basics.

  • Instructor:  Make sure you know who will be providing your training.  Asking for a biographical sketch of the instructor's background and qualifications provides you an opportunity to see if your instructor has experience in your field.

  • References:  It's a good idea to contact other companies who have used the training provider's services.  Ask what the company liked, and what they didn't like about the service they received.  This line of questioning often uncovers details that help you make a well informed decision.

  • Guaranteed delivery:  There are a lot of one and two man companies out there.  So what happens if your assigned instructor becomes ill, or other priorities cause you to change your scheduled training.  All your planning can easily become wasted time, and delays affect having your personnel qualified for their job.  Crane Tech has a large group of instructors ready to handle whatever may come up.

  • Years in service:  You need assurance that your provider has the depth and experience to handle your training for a successful outcome.  We are extremely proud of thirty-years in our trade.

  • Course Material:  What materials will be used during your training?  Some companies simply print PowerPoint presentations and call these training manuals.  Others consists entirely of bullet points that lack detail for future reference.  Crane Tech materials are professionally developed, with fully illustrated manuals designed to serve as a valuable future reference source.  Learn more about our materials in the sections below.

  • Course Builder:  Ask any training provider how they manage their training materials so that all relevant materials are provided for their instructor.  How do they ensure that instructors never get caught having to make copies at your facility. Do they just reprint a list of materials that are used for every course they provide?  If so, how do they handle your unique applications and equipment?   Crane Tech developed a propriety software (Course Builder) that puts every relevant document in front of the Training Manager so your program never comes up short.  Hundreds of documents; from tests, standards, manuals, and workshops are on screen ready to be added with a click of the mouse.  And Course Builder never forgets the exact training previously provided.  We can match your courses exactly, down to the last page, tests used, even the exact serialized test questions.  Course Builder is a revolutionary product that's another Crane Tech first to ensure quality and consistent training.

  • Test Development:  Ask who writes the tests which are used to qualify your personnel and you may be surprised at the answers you get.  Don't be surprised to hear that instructors write most tests in their spare time, or "we've used our tests for years."  Then ask how the company evaluates their test questions so the questions fairly evaluate student knowledge.  Crane Tech understands that companies don't want easy (everybody passes) or unprofessional tests.  They are looking for a fair and non-subjective appraisal of their staff's knowledge and skill.  The fact is, Crane Tech doesn't write tests.  We build banks of test questions for the various courses we have available.  Test bank questions are keyed to specific areas of study and serialized for tracking purposes.  Tests are assembled by selecting questions that match the learning objectives while maintaining a careful balance relating to delivered training.  A test bank may consist of hundreds of questions that can be randomly selected to support a specific program.  Backup tests are similar, but never the same, and we maintain sufficient items so retesting is as fair as initial testing.  Each question is validated only after careful review for clarity, plausible responses, accuracy, and source.  Then we put our item analysis software to work making sure that any question not performing up to our standards is reviewed and/or replaced.

  • Item Analysis:  Ask how a training company evaluates their tests over time to see that underperforming questions are removed or modified.  Unless a company uses item analysis software it may be impossible to spot under-performing questions, or to guarantee you the highest quality evaluation available.  Each test administered by Crane Tech is completed by filling out a bubble sheet (scan card) with the test results entered into a databank.  While it may be easy to visually see that a number of students miss a specific question.  How difficult is it to see that they each selected the same incorrect response?  What knowledge can be gained by reviewing incorrect responses selected by a candidates who score in the high percentile range.  Are certain questions never answered incorrectly — even by those who score marginally?  The information obtained from every test allows us to quickly spot underperforming test questions and trends that will benefit our clients. This is just another way that Crane Tech invests in quality and resources so you can be assured of the highest quality training and testing available.  And, we never charge for testing because we feel you have paid for the training, don't you deserve to know how well your personnel performed?
